Salvation, Baptism, and the Holy Spirit
Salvation is a gift from God, accompanied by the responsibility to live righteously and demonstrate faith through action. The door into God’s Kingdom—the door of salvation—is a commitment. It does not mean dabbling in the Kingdom and dabbling in the world. It is a total commitment.
Salvation occurs when one believes in Jesus Christ (Yeshua) for salvation. There is nothing you can do to earn it. Yes, it is a free gift Jesus paid for, but you were bought for a price! Salvation is free, yet it costs—because Jesus gave his life for you. Glorify God, for he paid for you. That means he owns you.
Once you receive salvation, there is a commitment on your part to give your life to Jesus Christ. Surrender to God’s will and purpose. Jesus (Yeshua) wants everyone to come to him just as they are. He will help you see the light if you have been in the dark, for Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamashiach) is the Light of the world. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life—our true King of Kings.
There is an exchange that takes place. When Jesus (Yeshua) died for you, giving you his life, he expects you to give him your life—every part of it. We are to depend on him to provide and to take care of us in every area of our lives. Without Jesus (Yeshua), we are nothing.
You have to have faith and believe in his promises, which are throughout Scripture. If you do not, you will hold onto some area in your life without letting Jesus take care of it. That part of your life can become messy if it is not given over to him.
When you believe and receive Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamashiach) as your Lord and Savior, he will give you the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will teach you, guide you, and reveal things to come.
